Meet Giovanna
“The Lord is greater than the giants you face”
~1 John 4:4
There are numerous choices available to us in life, but the family we are born into is not one of them. Since the moment we took our first breath, many of us have encountered challenging times that were far from ideal, enduring circumstances that no child should ever have to face.
Learning how to be effective and loving parents is not a skill that most individuals are taught, nor was it modeled in our upbringing. Instead, we learned to parent, based on how our parents or primary caregivers parented us, who in turn, learned from their parents. Unfortunately, the pattern results in the perpetuation of negative beliefs, attitudes and behaviors which are passed down, impacting our development either directly or indirectly. To deal with the strife and our sadness, we develop unhealthy coping behaviors to navigate the emotional, mental, and sometimes physical pain we endured. These unhealthy coping strategies then find their way into our social and intimate relationships, and ultimately, we pass them on to our own children.
There is hope however. By choosing to break these negative patterns and behaviors and exchanging them for healthier behaviors, we can learn to handle the challenges life throws at us, and put an end to these intergenerational cycles. And there is even better news.
Firstly, counseling can provide us with a professional therapist who has been trained to share the tools needed to adopt healthier coping strategies, replacing our negative behaviors, which can lead to a happier and more fulfilling life. Secondly, if you are struggling with adjusting to a life event, and/or are experiencing anxiety and depression, I may be able to help.
The most uplifting news of all, is that there is a God who loves you unconditionally and forgives us for whatever mistakes we’ve made. I firmly believe that He has guided you to Christian Counseling Professionals to seek therapy from a Christian therapist who will truly work to understand you, and help you, with your emotional and mental health.
